Many people think that pink is a very simple color to make, but there are many different shades of pink, and each of it has a minor different composition. Real pink is a mixture of red and white colors, but if you want to make different shades of pink, you can use different shades of red with other colors like blue or yellow.

How to Make Dark Pink

To make a dark pink you just modify the ratio of your pink mixture. You can make your pink mixture darker by adding a little bit of red hue. If you want to make a very dark plum pink color you can add little bit of black or purple color.

How to Make Light Pink

If you want a light pink color, you just simply increase the quantity of white color in the mixture and keep adding white color until you get the shade you are looking for.

How to Make Pink without White

You can mix yellow shade, like cadmium lemon yellow with red color to get a pink color. You can also use a very pale yellow to fuse it into a pink hue.

Muting Pink Shades

Muted color is one that is not as drenching as a bright color. Colors are muted by mixing them with colors such as brown or green, white or grey, and black as well.

If you want to mute the bright pink, add a small amount of complementary colors to the mixture. Complementary colors for pink are yellow and green which allows you to mute the brightest shades of pink. Keep adding the complementary color to your mixture until you get the appropriate shade.

An intense or brighter shade of pink will portray more vibrancy. Paler shades of pink are mostly nostalgic, possibly innocent, and childish. So, it is, therefore, necessary and important for you to understand what emotions you are trying to add to your artwork by using different shades of pink.

Pink and Neutral Colors

Neutral shades like grey and brown are very effective with pink. They fuse nicely with pink and are satisfying to the eye. If you are using these neutral color combinations, it is preferable to lighten or tone down your pink shades.

Shades of pink

  • Fuchsia Pink:

To get fuchsia pink you have to mix red, pink, and purple colors together, but on computer screens, you have to mix blue and red light at equal and full intensity to get fuchsia. It is a dark color, less bright and it has less vibrancy than a hot pink color.

  • Rose Pink:

To get rose pink you have to start with a red base and then mix a very small amount of blue to get a purplish shade and then, from there start adding white color, which will lighten the shade to create rose pink.

  • Hot Pink:

Mix silver and white with your paintbrush, after that slowly integrate small dabs of red color in the mixture. Continue to do this until you have attained the shade of hot pink you want. It is brighter, lighter in shade, and looks more vibrant than fuchsia pink.

  • Dusty Pink:

Dusty pink is a very bright and delicate color. It is obtained by mixing three colors: white, red, and beige. It is frequently mistaken for pastel pink, even though it looks very different.

  • Pink Gold:

Rose gold is also known as pink gold. It is formed when you mix copper alloy with yellow gold. The amount of copper added in the mixture will affect the tone. As copper is added, the gold will gradually take on more of its particular pink color.

  • Reddish Pink:

When red and white colors are mixed together they produce a pink color. The shade of pink depends upon the amount of each color you add in the mixture. More red in the mixture will produce a reddish pink.

  • Blush:

  • Cherry blossom:

Cherry blossom is a very light shade of pink. It is a mixture of RGB colors (red, green, and blue). Cherry blossom is comprised of 100% red, 71.76% green, and 77.25% blue.

  • Mexican Pink:

Mexican pink is a purplish pink tone of the rose color. It is realistic and saturated color. It is also similar to the colors magenta and fuchsia. It can be obtained by adding 89.41% of red and 48.63% of blue.

  • Magenta Pink:

Magenta pink can be obtained by mixing baby pink and purple together. But you have to start with baby pink and then start adding purple color to the mixture. Keep mixing until you achieve the magenta pink.

  • Peachy Pink:

Peachy pink is soft color. First you have to mix red and white color together, after that blend light yellow color with the mixture of red and white color you have made before.
